East Coast Easts

Food Blogger

First blog post

My name is Alex and I am a Senior at the University of Florida. I am a total foodie who plans dates and hanging out with friends around food and the restaurants we will be eating at. The only channel that is ever on my TV is Food Network (Ch. 49 in Gainesville). Although, I personally am not the best chef, I do enjoy eating food! I’m from a small town outside of Annapolis, MD and have had the pleasure to grow up in an area that is 20 minutes from cities like D.C. and Baltimore. If you have ever been to the DMV you have seen plenty of restaurants that have been on countless Food Network shows. Gainesville also has some hidden gems and restaurants that I have fallen in love with. This is my blog to talk about some of the best experiences I have had with food and restaurants, even if they aren’t all on the East Coast. Enjoy!

Bagels for Breakfast

One of my FAVORITE places to grab breakfast in Gainesville when I’m in a hurry, or when I’m not….is Bagel Bakery. This little place is located in the Millhopper Shopping Center off of 16th Blvd, next to the Publix. Now, every time I come here I get the exact same thing. My go-to is a bacon, egg, and cheese with avocado on a toasted everything bagel. I take it to my table and smother it with hot sauce (I put hot sauce on everything!!!). The cheddar cheese is perfectly melted on top of a fluffy scrambled egg and the crispy bacon brings the whole breakfast sandwich together. If you have ever been to New York, or know someone from there, you know that they rave about their bagels and say “nothing can compare”. I have a good amount of friends from New York who refuse to eat bagels while they are in Gainesville, but once we discovered this place, they changed their minds and will only eat one bagel here. Obviously, there are other phenomenal options for breakfast and lunch at Bagel Bakery, but as a creature of habit, I stick to my eggel bagel.
